Both sides reaffirmed the strong Kazakh–Austrian partnership based on trust and practical cooperation, highlighting Austria’s importance as a key EU partner and expressing readiness to deepen ties at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held talks with Austria’s Federal Ministers Beate Meinl-Reisinger (European and International Affairs) and Gerhard Karner (Interior) during their official visit to Kazakhstan.

Both sides reaffirmed the strong Kazakh–Austrian partnership based on trust and practical cooperation, highlighting Austria’s importance as a key EU partner and expressing readiness to deepen ties at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

Discussions covered the implementation of agreements on diplomatic visa exemption and readmission, as well as Austria’s plan, in cooperation with the OSCE, to provide 25 passport readers to Astana International Airport.

The parties emphasized expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, including through a business roundtable, and noted the role of the Intergovernmental Commission, Business Council, and Austrian companies in Kazakhstan.

They identified strong potential in sectors such as mining, transport and infrastructure, energy, tourism, and education, with particular focus on logistics projects like the Middle Corridor and the EU’s Global Gateway initiative.

Energy cooperation was also discussed, with Kazakhstan’s role as a key oil supplier to Austria highlighted.

The meeting also addressed regional and global security issues, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to peaceful solutions in line with the UN Charter.

The parties expressed confidence that continued cooperation will further strengthen and expand the Kazakh–Austrian partnership.
